What Changed

Reading is work. Not much work, but enough that after a long day the wall of text between you and the next scene starts to feel like homework. A human DM never handed you a paragraph and waited. They spoke, and you listened, and the scene arrived without effort.

Narration closes that gap. The story is read to you the way it would be read at a table.

How It Works

• Tap Listen. It sits under every Dungeon Master message. The narration starts immediately and streams as it goes, so you are not waiting for a long turn to render before you hear the first line.
• The words light as they are spoken. Highlighting tracks the narrator word by word. Useful if you are half reading and half listening, which is how most people actually use it.
• Eight narrators. George reads by default. Seven others sit in Settings, and you can audition each one before you commit.
• It is on every plan. Including Free. Narration is not an add-on and listening does not draw on your daily turns.

Where It Fits

Narration is not really about accessibility features, although it helps there too. It changes when you can play.

• Cooking. The scene reads while your hands are busy.
• Walking. Listen to the last few turns, then type your action when you stop.
• The end of a long day. When you want the story but not the reading.
• Long descriptive scenes. A dense room description is much easier heard than skimmed.

What It Does Not Do

We would rather tell you the edges now than have you find them.

• It is not a full audiobook of your campaign. Listen covers your ten most recent turns. Enough to catch up on where you are, not enough to replay three hundred turns of backlog as a podcast.
• It does not voice each character separately. One narrator reads the whole turn, dialogue included, the way a single person reading aloud would.
• It is not a conversation. The narrator reads what the Dungeon Master wrote. It does not improvise, and it does not answer you. Speaking back is a separate feature, and we wrote about it in our hands-free D&D guide.
