The Manual
How it actually works
The homepage is the pitch. This is the part where we show our working: how the dice are rolled, which rules are enforced rather than remembered, how a table decides who acts next, and what a turn costs.
Before the chapters
The short version
- The Endlessness is an AI Dungeon Master that runs Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition adventures in a web browser.
- There are three modes: Single Player, Online Multiplayer, and Living Worlds. All three are on the free plan.
- A turn is one message to the Dungeon Master, plus the opening scene when a campaign starts and the catch-up after time away in a Living World. Dice results, listening, party chat and skipped turns cost nothing.
- Free gives 20 turns per day. Adventurer gives 100 for $9.99 a month. Legend gives 400 for $24.99 a month.
- A campaign slot holds one running story: a solo campaign, a Living World, a table you host, or a seat at a friend's table. Free has 1, Adventurer 5, Legend 20.
- Dice are generated on the player's own device using its cryptographic random number generator.
- The Dungeon Master never sees a roll before the player and cannot change it after it lands.
- It uses the D&D 5e System Reference Document 5.2.1, under CC BY 4.0.
- A Living World's clock runs at real-time speed: a three-day journey takes three real days, and a long rest takes eight real hours.
- A Living World does not advance on its own. Other players change it.
